Dear GIMP users!

It appears that GIMP 2.4 supports direct use of brushes in .abr format (see this LiveJournal entry for details: [link]). This means that you should now be able to use Photoshop brushes without converting them at all. I don't know how much need for updates to this account there will be now; of course all the already converted brushes in here will stay available.
